Talk about a stellar performance! Owen Bartoszkiewicz, the Michigan Tech Huskies' goalie, has just been crowned the CCHA Goaltender of the Week – for the third time this season! This recognition highlights his consistent excellence between the pipes.
In a recent CCHA series against Ferris State, Bartoszkiewicz was a wall, saving an impressive 48 out of 52 shots. That's a save percentage that any goalie would be proud of! On Friday, he turned away 22 shots, leading his team to a 3-2 victory. He followed that up on Saturday with 26 saves in a 5-2 win. And this is the part most people miss: the Huskies were perfect on the penalty kill, going 4-for-4 in the series.
For the season, Bartoszkiewicz boasts a record of 10-5-2, with a goals-against average of just 2.23 and a save percentage of .920. He's currently ranked fourth in the CCHA for goals-against average and fifth in save percentage. Nationally, he's holding his own, ranking fifth with 10 wins and eighth in minutes played.
Michigan Tech's overall record stands at 10-6-2, and they're 7-3-2 in the CCHA. They're gearing up for the 59th annual Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids. They'll face Miami in the first semifinal on December 28th. Michigan State and Ferris State will battle it out in the late semifinal.
