Joshua Bonehill-Paine, the man behind the anonymous Crewkerne Gazette account, has a history of hate crimes and discriminatory behavior targeting Jewish individuals. Bonehill-Paine, 33, with his self-proclaimed labels of "nationalist, fascist, theorist, and supporter of white rights," has left a trail of offensive actions and fake stories.
But here's where it gets controversial... Despite his past, Bonehill-Paine has managed to gain recognition and praise for his satirical AI videos. Publications like The Sun and The Times have lauded his work, even going as far as comparing him to the renowned street artist Banksy.
Bonehill-Paine's journey is a complex one. He has attempted to distance himself from his antisemitic views, claiming to hold "a deep affection for Israel" now. He has completed the government's Prevent awareness course and worked in counter-extremism education, aiming to rectify his past actions.
In early 2015, he organized a protest in Stamford Hill, north London, with the shocking aim of rallying against the "complete Jewification of the borough." Later that year, he tried to organize another protest in Golders Green, a predominantly Jewish area, promoting it with a cartoon image of Hitler and describing it as "an absolute gas." For these actions, he was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for inciting hatred against Jews.
And this is the part most people miss... Bonehill-Paine's criminal record doesn't end there. He was also found guilty of racially aggravated harassment against Luciana Berger, a Jewish Labour MP. He was jailed for an additional two years, adding to his existing sentence.
