Winter Weather Alert: University of Delaware Prepares for Blizzards and Storms

The University of Delaware is gearing up for a challenging week ahead, with a winter storm warning and blizzard alert in place for the entire region. Sunday, February 22nd: Early Closures and Transportation Disruptions

  • Main Street Bookstore: The Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Main Street in Newark will close at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Dining Halls: Residential dining halls will remain open with regular hours, closing at 8:30 p.m.
  • Parking: Campus parking enforcement will be suspended, and resident students are encouraged to park in designated areas at the Trabant Center and Center for the Arts. Please follow all parking regulations.

Monday, February 23rd: Campus-Wide Closure and Virtual Learning

  • Newark Campus: The University will suspend all operations on the Newark campus at 12:01 a.m. on Monday. Only essential personnel should report to work, and they are advised to park in University garages for easier snow removal.
  • Non-Essential Staff: Non-essential staff are released from their duties and are not expected to work on-site or remotely.
  • In-Person Instruction: No in-person classes will be held on Monday. Instructors have the flexibility to cancel, reschedule, or conduct virtual sessions.
